Frequently Asked Questions
Planning a visit? Here’s what people ask us most. If your question isn’t here, email holler@standardproofwhiskey.com or just ask us when you’re in.
Where are you?
You’ll find us at 219 Rep. John Lewis Way N (it used to be 5th Avenue North) in downtown Nashville, a block off Printers Alley and a short walk from Lower Broadway.
When are you open?
Sunday to Thursday, noon to 9pm, and Friday and Saturday, noon to 11pm. Come by for happy hour, Monday to Friday from 4 to 7pm, when a flight of all eight of our whiskeys is $17.
Do I need a reservation?
Not for the bar, so just come on in. Walk-ins are welcome for cocktail classes too, depending on availability. If you want a particular time, or you’re coming with a group, book ahead so your seats are saved.
Where do I park?
There’s street parking nearby, and plenty of parking garages a short walk from us.
What happens in a cocktail class?
An instructor pours you a tasting of seven Standard Proof whiskeys, then walks you through four cocktails, shaken and stirred, and you make two of them yourself. Classes run 90 minutes, seven days a week, for up to 12 guests, and tickets are $60 a person. All sales are final.
Is there an age limit?
Yes. We’re a 21-and-over bar, so please bring your ID.
Do your cocktails contain nuts?
Some do. Our Pecan Rye, and the drinks made with it like the Key Lime Pie and Cowboy Cola, contain nuts. Let your bartender know about any allergies or other restrictions, or tell us when you book, and we’ll look after you.
Do you serve wine or other spirits?
We don’t serve wine. Behind the bar you’ll find our own whiskey and the cocktails we make with it, plus beer, cider, seltzer and non-alcoholic drinks.
Can we book the whole bar?
Yes, and we’d love to host you. The room holds 120 standing and 75 seated, and you can book it for a cocktail hour of up to 3 hours, a partial day of up to 6, or a full day of up to 12. Email us at holler@standardproofwhiskey.com with your date, guest count and timing.
Can I give a class as a gift?
Absolutely. Book a date and give the tickets, or email holler@standardproofwhiskey.com and we’ll set up a gift certificate so they can pick their own date.
Can I buy bottles?
Yes, at the bar and online, so you can take one home or send one to a friend.
